No I don't think it's correct unless it is used to help the baby even then things like that should be left alone. In a way it is disturbing yet people do not care an think only of themselves aside we have parents thinking about their child's health which in a way makes a it okay?
I agree. Something like this should just be left alone and it's sad that most of the time the parents are thinking about themselves and not the actual child.
If they would of left it alone they wouldn't have found out if they could save her life. But designing a baby might have been a really risky choice. It's hard to say when I don't have that kind of responsibility. They were in a way thinking of themselves but thy also wanted their child to live and have a long happy life because they love her.
Personally I wouldn't do it. I guess if you want to create a child to make sure that it is less likely to get diseases maybe but like in Anna's case I don't think it is ok. I think it's better to actually carry your own child and let it look how the child is supposed to look.
I agree to prevent it from it being carried by your child through the family or it just helping your child have a better life without the family disease . Case closed
I don't think it was morally correct. You should be happy with what life gives you and even though its not good that Kate has cancer they should still support her. By making a designer baby Kate has suffered more because she has been struggling to survive. The designer baby was only for Kate's needs.
I agree because it seemed like every time Anna gave Kate something from her a few days later Kate went back to the hospital for something else that went wrong, so she never really felt any better.
I don't think it is a very good idea. There might be parents who are doing it to save one of their children (like Brian and Sara) but while they are making the decision they only have one child in mind.. The sick one. They fail to wonder what might the designer baby will go through as she/he grows up. It's not fair to the child because he or she has no say in it.
I think Anna wants to help her sister.. She is probably just scared of what might happen to her after it's done? If I were Anna I'd wonder what happens to me after Kate passes away? That was the only reason Anna was designed....
I think that for the right reasons it could be okay, but at the beginning before you start designing the baby, you should think of how serious the illness is. If using a donated part would work fine and will stop the illness then no you shouldn't design a baby. Also if you research the illness and know how bad it will get later on then I wouldn't want to design a baby that will just make my child suffer throughout its life if it keeps on having to go to the hospital for new treatments. Yes you want to have that child for as long as you can and will do anything for it, but you have to think on how the designer child will feel in the long run as well.
I agree with the last part! If your going to make the decision to have a designer baby, the parents should first think of how that child will turn out and how the child might feel.
I don't believe designer babies are ethnical. Although I can see why they reasoned to design Anna. They were good parents. Making a designer baby seemed like the perfect solution, but they never thought of how it would affect Anna in the future.

ReplyDeleteIt's not fair to Anna at all. She doesn't get any attention compared to Kate and she was just designed for her.
DeleteI see what you're saying. It's caused a lot of grief in their family. Do you think Anna cares that she's helping her sister in this way?

DeleteI agree. It's not like Sara and Brian chose her eye color, hair color, etc.
