Assignment 2 (FGT)
This novel has a very complex structure alternating between the past and the present and the point of view of a whole host of different characters. Did this narrative format work for you? Were there particular narrators you found more compelling than others and why?
i didnt really like it at all. i thought it was confusing and hard for me to understand what was going on. i like the regular narrative over this type.
ReplyDeleteNo because it was quite confusing and I didn't understand what was going on. No though I thought that Evelyn's point of view was quite interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the book I got slightly confused when it would switch back and forth between the past and present. I found Idgie pretty interesting because of her hold characteristics that really stuck out. I did enjoy reading about Evelyn Conch as well. How she grew as a person over the period of time in the story really shows how she wanted to be a happy and independent woman.
ReplyDeleteThis narrative format worked when I was watching the movie. When reading the book this method wasn't working for me all that well. I found Big Goerge pretty great and I'm not sure why. He had it rought but he still was a nice guy and made the best out his life.
ReplyDeleteThis narrative format did not work for me. I lost interest very fast and couldn't understand all of it. Idgie is a fun character for all she does in the book.
ReplyDeleteNo I really didn't like it!! It was hard to read it because you also had to think a lot. That's why I was really disinterested in the book after just a few chapters.
ReplyDeleteI really didn't like how it jumped from person to person and from past to present. However, when we watched clips it did help me to understand the book much better. I really liked Smokey Lonesome. I feel as though he was a very deep, emotional person with a big heart. Idgie was also very fascinating. She was crazy and gave the book some excitement. So I would say that no, the narrative style didn't work for me.

ReplyDeleteI didn't like that it went back and forth. I think I liked Evelyn because she was kind of funny. I liked the way she interacted with Mrs. Theadgoode.
ReplyDeleteI didnt think that this book was too hard to follow. The only thing i had trouble with is remembering all the characters in the book.
